How to give?

If you’ve landed here hopefully that means you have scanned the Head West and Down South pages and think that contributing to this cause is within your means.

Cool.

I’m all about it and I guarantee a bunch of kids down in Guate will agree.

So what next?  Well, when you press the “Make a Donation” button towards the bottom of the page you will be redirected to a PayPal website where you will be able to donate to my account. I chose to go this route for several reasons: 1) PayPal’s ease of use and 2) PayPal’s universality. When you donate the donation gets set aside in a fund in the account. At the end of the hike (say, next August or September depending on how it goes!) I will transfer those funds to Quetzaltrekkers in Guatemala.

I have to say I’m working on the logistics of how this transaction will be completed…whether it will be a wire transfer or whether I will be able to bring it myself when I return for the guide reunion in December. But, I can say that 100% of the money donated will be given to Quetzaltrekkers and EDELAC. I am indeed trying to raise support through sponsorships and the like for gear, food, transportation, etc on the trail, but none of the funds generated through this blog will go to that.

How will you know? I ask that you trust me. I am good for my word.
